God’s call is also effectual in view of our deadness. If you have read Dr. Drummond’s books on our need for a Third Great Awakening. He closes the book by a quote from Jo0seph Tracy’s work, The Great Awakening. It is well worth one’s time to consider the Sovereign Grace of God. It brings a turmoil, but it also brings a humbling and a reverence for God. It also brings a renewal of society all of which happened in America. The hardest and most difficult of sinners are brought to the feet of Jesus. Our problem is that we do not realize that the five points of grace are really invitations stated in paradoxical forms in order to bring about a transformation of the sinner. In counseling this is called a therapeutic paradoxes. Our Lord used such means in Lk. 4:16-31 and Matthew 15:21-28. Also consider His comments in Mark 10 where He uses the impossible. Think of it the: impossible is the invitation. Dr. Eusden in his declared in His edition of William Ames Marrow of Divinity (now titled The Marrow of Theology that “Predestination is the invitation to begin one’s spiritual pilgrimage..” This was what Whitefield and Edwards and Spurgeon preached with such incredible effectiveness.
