It Is Time for America to Grieve and Weep

It’s time for America to weep and wail.

Anyone who watched the Sunday night second presidential debate knows that something is terribly wrong in America. We have two terribly unpopular and unsatisfying candidates to be the president of the United States.

Many people have become disgusted with the whole process and are vowing to vote for neither one. This is especially common among Christians. While that sounds like a satisfying decision, one of these two will be elected president of the United States.

As I have often stated, Christians not voting means that people who don’t pray will elect the next president of the United States.

One of the things we can be sure of is this: it is time for believers to grieve, weep, and wail. This is what the apostle James told us to do. It is not a time of laughter or levity; it is a time for weeping and wailing in America as we confess ours sins and ask for His forgiveness (James 4:8-10).

James meant that we should exhibit a godly sorrow over what has happened in our nation.

As we saw from the two candidates Sunday night, we have become a people who are drowning in sexual immorality. It feels very much like we have been given over to a reprobate mind (a mind that does not work right). The reprobate (senseless) mind leads us to the kind of government we now experience.

Our perversion and immorality is rampant.

It is time for repentance. It is time to grieve, weep, and wail. It is time for Christians to lead the way by changing our actions and our attitudes.

Let us commit to not conforming to the ways of our world but to be transformed by the renewal of our minds.

How does this look?

It means we deliberately choose to reject the ways of the world and to affirm and appropriate the ways of Christ.

It means that we fill our minds with Scripture and the ways of Christ.

It means that we grieve over rebellion and sin and beg God for mercy and change.

It is time for America to grieve and mourn.

  1. AMEN!!! It does seem a shame that our country, that has been so richly blessed, is in this situation. Until we turn back to putting God first in our lives, we can expect nothing better. As Christians we must PRAY for God to give us guidance and wisdom .

  2. Don’t like either one but we have to make a choice. Even tho I don’t agree with Trump’s lifestyle or his words I do feel he would be better for America and God than Hillery. She and Bill have shown every since he was a governor what their track record is and would continue to be. America is on the edge of a cliff now and with her as president I feel we would be pushed over the edge. God help us all if she is elected.

  3. Thank you Waylon for speaking boldy, truthfully.
The depravation in this campaign is another large red flag for the church to wake and act according to God’s will.
    James 4:8-10 is ongoing.
    Praying Christians will vote.
Praying the next president will be drawn to God, repent, believe and have life changing relationship with Jesus!

  4. I remember when Louisiana had a choice of choosing between Edwin Edwards and David Duke for governor. With all the really good people in this country, why is that someone cannot become the righteous one and Really make this country Great in the eyes of God and our countrymen. Maybe Mike Pence will witness too and convict the Donald! This is truly disgusting.

  5. I agree we should all corporately pray as a church and as individuals with scripture. Revival must come from the church of believers!
Scripture says, “For lack of guidance a nation falls, but victory is won through many advisors” (Proverbs 11:14 )The determination of who leads our nation will also determine who advises that leader and how we are guided.
Pray that the candidates allow godly advisors to influence all issues with a spiritual compass ! Specifically, pray for the godly advisor VP Presidential candidate,Mike Pence ,to speak boldly on the issues of sanctity of life, traditional marriage, support of Israel, and fiscal responsibility!

*Let us lift up our voices to the Lord, Jesus. “When two or more are gathered together we can ask Him for anything in His will.”Matthew 18:20

  6. With all due respect Sandy, how can a Christian vote for someone who supports a woman’s right to “choose (murder)” millions of innocent babies simply for the sake of “convenience” and endorses the homosexual lifestyle, both of which are strongly addressed in the Bible as wrong in God’s eyes?!
