Four Things I want to Leave Behind

I’ve referred both in my blogs and in sermons about the question so many people ask, “What’s on your bucket list?”

Our bucket list will reveal a great deal about us.

What’s on your bucket list and what should be on your bucket list?

Let me give you four suggestions for your bucket list.

First, know God intimately.

I can’t think of anything more important than knowing God closely and desiring to always live with Him and for Him. If this doesn’t happen, does anything else we do really matter?

I believe the number one item on your bucket list should be “knowing God.”

Second, obeying God and doing his will. God is “the God who acts.” He acts, and he wants us to act according to His will. If we don’t seek to please God with our actions, we probably don’t really know Him.

Third, leave behind a family who is growing in the knowledge of God and acting on God’s commands for our lives.

Families are important to God. He created them first. Throughout the Bible God tells us how to do marriage and family. Instructing our families and modeling before children and grandchildren should be prominently displayed on our bucket list.

Fourth, leave a legacy. That legacy should involve material possessions, acts of love, kindness, and obedience, the love and care of God’s church, and a life that exalts God.
