The Best Kept Secret

As I visited with a new family to our church this week, I became aware that sometimes we keep secrets about important meetings and events.

One of the best kept secrets at First Baptist Church is our Wednesday night activities.

Each Wednesday night we have Christian growth ministries for preschoolers, children, youth, and adults. Each of these groups has well-prepared leaders who are dedicated to help you and your family grow in the Lord Jesus Christ.

We don’t have only one event meeting; we have a number of different opportunities for you and your family. You have the opportunity to participate in a variety of Christian growth groups. These include divorce care, grief share, classes about marriage, family, money, and many other pertinent subjects.

I particularly want to tell you about a verse by verse Bible study for young people led by our youth pastor Chris Kroll and a separate class for adults led by me.

Both Chris and I are teaching about the crucifixion and resurrection in the Gospel of Luke. This is a verse by verse, line by line Bible study. In this study we seek to give the history, geography, and background of the Scripture. We do our best to make the Scripture clear and plain and to apply it to your life. If you have young people at church, you and your teens are studying the same passage of Scripture.

Both the youth and adult studies will conclude the Gospel of Luke shortly before Easter. At that point, we’re going to move forward with the continuation of Luke’s Gospel by looking at the Acts of the Apostles.

We want to invite you to join with us both in Luke and Acts.

The study begins at 6:30 and concludes promptly at 7:30 PM. The children’s activities generally begin at 6:15, allowing adults to get their children settled and then begin the Bible study at 6:30.

I hope that Wednesday night will no longer be the best kept secret at First Baptist Church. Please join with us as we seek to grow in the Lord and to know Christ and the power of His resurrection.
