The Power of Integrity

“There’s nothing wrong with asking to be released from a commitment. But if we can’t get free, then we have to make good on it. If we try living true to ourselves at the expense of others, it’ll cost us our relationships, our success, and ultimately everything of real and lasting value”–Michael Hyatt.

“Honesty is making your words conform to reality. Integrity is making reality conform to your words”–Stephen Covey.

Paul encouraged the church to speak truth to one another, putting away all falsehood with it. At another place in Ephesians, Paul told them to speak the truth in love. Your words matter, and your truthfulness matters”–Waylon Bailey.

“No rotten talk should come from your mouth, but only what is good for the building up of someone in need, in order to give grace to those who hear. And don’t grieve God’s Holy Spirit, who sealed you for the day of redemption. All bitterness, anger and wrath, insult and slander must be removed from you, along with all wickedness. And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ”–Ephesians 4:29-32, HCSB.

“If everyone were clothed with integrity, if every heart were just, frank, kindly, the other virtues would be well-nigh useless, since their chief purpose is to make us bear with patience the injustice of our fellows”–Moliere.

“In silence man can most readily preserve his integrity”–Meister Eckhart.

“For of those to whom much is given, much is required. And when at some future date the high court of history sits in judgment on each of us, recording whether in our brief span of service we fulfilled our responsibilities to the state, our success or failure, in whatever office we hold, will be measured by the answers to four questions: First, were we truly men of courage . . . Second, were we truly men of judgment . . . Third, were we truly men of integrity . . . Finally, were we truly men of dedication?”–John F. Kennedy.
