David Logan to FBC

On Wednesday evening, we met as a congregation to deal with items which must come before the congregation in a business meeting. These are items that define who we are and how we “run” the church. One of those items is to vote to call full-time pastors of FBC.

During the meeting Wednesday, we voted to extend a call of service to David Logan to serve as our Minister of Music. David will be tasked primarily with giving leadership to the 9:30 AM service and to lead the choir and orchestra. We are thankful to have David with us and to serve in this capacity.

Our music and worship ministry is a team effort. David will work alongside Benji and Jenna Cowart (Worship Arts Pastors), Barry Carpenter (Audio-Visual Director), Karen Walls (Administrative Assistant), and Jay Johnston (Associate Pastor and the leader of this team).

As we work and worship together, we are emphasizing worship (not style). We no longer designate traditional or contemporary. We want to emphasize pleasing God with our worship, praise, and service. We will continue to have different services in the sense that one service has a band and the other has orchestra and choir, but we  want to emphasize what matters, which is pleasing God.

There are many attributes about David that made us turn toward him. Two of those stand out to me–his pastoral heart and his choir and orchestra leadership.

David and Sara have four children, Georgia (age 9), Lilliana (8), Kingsley (4), and Ben (11 months). They hope to move over the Christmas holidays to make the school transition as easy as possible.

David plans to be with us December 20 for choir and orchestra practice and to lead our Christmas Eve services December 24.

Please be in prayer for the Logan family.
