Getting Ready

The new worship center for First Baptist Church is progressing nicely. We still expect to be in the building for worship before Easter 2018 (April 1, 2018).

We are hopeful for even an earlier beginning. We will happily keep you up to date!

After our Wednesday worship, I spoke with one of our men. He told me how he is praying about the new building.

This is what he said, “The new building is fantastic, but if the Holy Spirit is not present it will be all for nothing. I am praying for the work of the Holy Spirit in this place.”

I affirmed him in his views and in his prayer. He’s right. Unless we meet God in this place of worship, it’s only a building. If God is present and we seek Him with all our hearts, it will be special to us for the rest of our lives.

Would you join with this dear brother and me to pray that we would worship God in this place “in spirit and truth’ (John 4:24)?

Because of this great need, my sermon series for January and February will about “Getting Ready.”

I will try to hit several areas where we need to prepare spiritually for the opening of the new worship center and our service to God and our community.

In the Bible spiritual preparation is a major theme. In order to get the people of Israel to cross the Jordan, God told Joshua to lead the people so that they were spiritually ready. They could not be fighting ready until they had spent time with God.

As we move toward this new part of our lives and ministry, let us get ready for this new day by getting spiritually ready.

May God continue to bless His church!
