Welcome to David Logan

Today we have the opportunity to welcome David Logan as our Minister of Music.

David was with us Christmas Eve and led the choir and orchestra as well as our congregational singing. The hectic nature of that day didn’t give us the time to welcome him properly. I want to do so with this edition of Lagniappe.

David and his family have now moved to our area. We are thrilled to have his wife Sara and their four children as part of our church family. The children are Georgia (9), Lilly (8), Kingsley (4), and Ben (1).

The Logans come to us from a church in Port Charlotte, Florida, which is on the gulf coast south of Sarasota. (My guess is that our cold weather this week has been a shock!).

David grew up in a churched family which emphasized service. In fact, the family moved to that area to serve in a new church plant. David exhibits that kind of commitment and desire to serve. David has served in multiple areas of his local church. After being called to ministry, David has served in music and administrative areas.

David will work with Benji and Jenna Cowart (our Worship Arts pastors) to lead the church musically as we worship. We are anticipating a close relationship as all three of these leaders work with the entire church to lead us in our worship and our relationship with God. David will work primarily with the choir and orchestra and will lead 9:30 worship. Benji and Jenna will work primarily with our bands and will lead 6:00 PM Saturday and 11:00 Sunday worship.

You should expect a close working relationship and you should expect to see Jenna, Benji, and David in all three services.

I am thankful to have the Logans with us. Please help me welcome them and get them acclimated to our church and our unique culture.

Verse of the Day

No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. — 1 Corinthians 10:13 (NIV)
