Our Building and Finances

Each week I write this “little something extra” (Lagniappe, pronounced lan-yap) for the members and attenders of First Baptist Church. I use it to keep each one up to date on where we are as a church.

As we approach the opening of our new Connection Center (what we have referred to as the Commons) and our new 2350 seat worship center, I want to bring you up to date on where we are with our building and finances.

The building itself is moving swiftly. We hope to be open and fully functional prior to Easter, hopefully to meet the entire month of March in our new location. We have a lot of special days and events planned to get us all acclimated and ready to experience worship in this new venue.

The new office building has begun and will be completed by the end of the summer. That will allow us to renovate our current office space for the use of our special needs students (We are calling it “Special Friends”). We plan for this area to be as happy and fresh as the new preschool and children center while taking into consideration the differing needs of those who will work and worship in the “Special Friends Area.”

The funding of the entire project has gone well, even astounding. I want to thank you for your generosity and perseverance as we continue to move forward.

We have just completed the 2017 budget year and were able to finish in the black in spite of the many new budget items related to the new building.

We look at the financial aspects of this project weekly and even daily. We believe we are in good position to complete most of the real needs of the congregation.

This is the part I need to emphasize: all of our plans are contingent of your continued faithfulness. Our budget and our building depend on your giving weekly for the ministry needs of the church and to the Forward! Campaign for the building. If this happens, we believe we will be able to complete the building without taking away from our week by week ministry.

Let us give thanks to God for these blessings.
