Heaven and Hell

“Earth, if chosen instead of Heaven, will turn out to have been, all along, a region of Hell; and earth, if put second to Heaven, to have been from the beginning a part of Heaven itself”–C.S. Lewis.

“What matters last, matters most. When we are in heaven, the fears, worries, and distractions of this fallen world will be no more. But we can live above them now. Paul counseled to ‘set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on the earth’ (Colossians 3:2)”–Jim Denison.

“Can you hear the sighing of the wind? Can you feel the heavy silence in the mountains? Can you sense the restless longing in the sea? Can you see it in the woeful eyes of an animal? Something’s coming . . . something better”–Joni Eareckson Tada.

“H.S. Laird, a Godly man, was dying. His son was by his bed and asked him, ‘Dad, how do you feel?’ He replied, ‘Son, I feel like a little boy on Christmas Eve.’ Christmas is coming. The best is yet to come for the Child of God”–Ron Herrod.

“The body of Benjamin Franklin, printer;
Like the cover of an old book, its contents torn out,
And stripped of its lettering and gilding,
Lies here food for worms, but the work shall not be lost,
For it will appear once more in a new and more elegant edition,
Revised and Corrected by the Author”–Benjamin Franklin’s epitaph, which he composed for himself.
“Eternity is not urgent until it is.”

  1. The Benjamin Franklin epitaph. I don’t recall ever seeing that before. Part of the overwhelming evidence of where our country’s founding fathers were spiritually. Praise God!
