Connect Groups!

Each week I write this “little something extra” (Lagniappe, pronounced lan-yap) for the members and attenders of First Baptist Church. I use it to keep each one up to date on where we are as a church.

We believe strongly that small group Bible study is a major function of the church. When we gather in community to hear God through His Word, we grow in our likeness of Christ.

This article is about a new name for our small group Bible study.

Adult Bible Fellowship has a new name.  We now call Bible Fellowship Groups – Connect Groups.  We believe these groups help our church accomplish its purpose of helping people:

Experience Life-Changing Relationships

Connect Groups have the same core essentials as Bible Fellowship Groups:

• Discipleship (Bible Study)

• Outreach

• Care

• Ministry/Missions

• Fellowship

• Prayer and Worship

Adopting the name CONNECT GROUPS allows us to best communicate our purpose to those inside or new to our church.  Our hope is to communicate to people that the CONNECTING part of our Equip strategy is best accomplished in small groups called CONNECT GROUPS.  Through these groups, people can:

• CONNECT to Christ in Relationship

• CONNECT to Others in Community

• CONNECT to Care from Others

• CONNECT to God’s Word through Bible Study

• CONNECT to Church through Membership

• CONNECT in Ministry to Others

Thank you for all you do to help people CONNECT.  Together we will help others know and accept Jesus Christ, and through Him experience life-changing relationships!
