The Schedule for Opening Our New Worship Center

Each week I write this “little something extra” (Lagniappe, pronounced lan-yap) for the members and attenders of First Baptist Church. I use it to keep each one up to date on where we are as a church.

We are all excited about opening our new Worship Center.

Clif Smith used this phrase, “We have to be a little patient.” My response has been that “I am a little patient. My problem is being completely patient.”

With that in mind, we feel fairly certain we can now publicize the following schedule to begin worshiping in our new building. We hope you will make all of these times of worship and praise. You may remember what we said at the changing of our schedule in September of last year, “We want to change the schedule now so that when we open the building all we have to do is praise God and give thanks. I am very happy to say that the time to praise God and give thanks has finally come. We are looking forward to this great day and to the future God has laid out before us.

Saturday-Sunday March 3-4 Walk through of our new building, including the Worship Center

Saturday-Sunday March 10-11 First services in our new Worship Center

Saturday-Sunday March 17-18 First baptismal services in the new Worship Center

Thursday March 29 Maundy Thursday Easter Service, including receiving the Lord’s Supper

Saturday-Sunday March 31-April 1 Easter

Sunday April 15 Grand Opening (one worship service at 10:30 AM with no Saturday worship and no Connect Groups for that day)

To be determined– Thanksgiving Service (with Bogue Falaya Baptist Church). First Baptist Church Covington began in 1904 with the direct involvement of the Bogue Falaya Baptist Church. We want to take the time to thank this church for what they have done in our community. We have invited them to worship with us in both worship services that day. (We anticipate this will take place in late April).

Soli Deo Gloria–To God alone be the glory!

Each day I write an article about Pastoral Leadership and Christian Living. If you would like to receive your own free copy each morning, you can sign up at waylonbailey.com or in the box below.

  1. Looking forward to this exciting time in the life of our church. “If you build it, they will come” God has blessed us in so many ways and I can hardly wait to see what will happen in the future as God works through us to enlarge His kingdom!

  2. Thanks for this great news Waylon! We will be watching live stream and praying with you and the FBC congregation for the great things ahead.

  3. What an awesome, exciting time, not only for FBC but for our entire community. May God shower us with a great revival that all seats will be filled each week with people thirsty for the Word.
