Seven Reasons to Come Back to Church This Weekend

You came to church this last weekend and you enjoyed being present with the family of God. Why not come back this weekend? Even better, why not make a commitment to make worship with the people of God your weekly practice?

Here are seven reasons why you should worship with the saints (that’s all set apart believers) of God again this weekend.

First, we all need to spend time with God. While we can and must spend time with Him daily, we especially need to come into the presence of God in corporate worship. A time of singing praises, prayer, Scripture reading, and the preaching of the Word are essential to our spiritual growth.

Second, this is God’s plan. He specifically set apart a day for worship. Since the time of the resurrection that has been on a Sunday for most followers of Christ. Apparently, we all need time about every seven days to readjust our thinking and to have our spiritual batteries recharged.

Third, we all become like the people we hang out with. Therefore, it’s necessary to be around other people who desire to please God. None of us is perfect, but we need people with a similar love and desire for God.

Fourth, your attendance will encourage other people. Let me give you an example. We don’t require people to “walk down the aisle” to join the membership of our church, but I encourage people to do so. Why? Because seeing people connecting with the church encourages others to do the same. It makes them think about what that person or family has decided to do.

Therefore, your attendance will help someone else. That is a major reason for us not to “forsake the assembling of ourselves together (Hebrews 10:25).

Fifth, good habits and good decisions build on other good decisions. The more you attend the more you will want to do so, and the more you will seek those things which really matter.

Sixth, worship participation helps our sanctification. Sanctification comes from the word from which we get the word “saint.” A saint has been set apart for God. A saint is growing in Christ. God’s goal is for us to be like Christ. Worshiping with the saints will help your sanctification.

Seventh, go to worship every week because Jesus Himself did so. If the Son of God needed to worship, what can we say about ourselves.

As you go back to worship this weekend, do so with a mind to meet God and hear from Him. Do this, and you will meet Him.

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13). “Come near to God and he will come near to you” (James 4:8).
