Praying for America

We must be deeply in prayer for Judge Brett Kavanaugh, the United States Senate, and for the United States of America.

Last night, President Donald Trump nominated Judge Kavanaugh to serve as an associate justice of the United States Supreme Court. As President Trump stated, there is almost nothing a president does that is more important than nominating justices of the U.S. Supreme Court.

Our country is based on our wonderful constitution. The United States Constitution has often been called the closest document to the divine inspiration of the Bible. In spite of all our imperfections (think of slavery and prejudice), we have endured as a nation founded on law because of our Constitution.

Our Constitution protects life and property. It gives us rights which come from God Himself. Through the Bill of Rights, we have freedom of speech and the press. We have the right to practice our religion as we are led of God. Our Constitution gives us the right of association, due process, and fair trials.

The Supreme Court–an independent body–is the final authority for defending the rights which have been given to us by our Creator. It is imperative that we have justices who will preserve those rights.

For all of these reasons, we must pray fervently for the process of confirming the person who will replace Justice Kennedy.

As the president stated, very little will be done in Washington as important as this.

Would you join me in praying fervently for this process? I intend to ask God for His mercy on our country by providing us with someone who loves Him and loves justice and righteousness. I intend to ask our Heavenly Father for someone who will seek Him as he or she interprets the law.

When I think of the Supreme Court, I think of my four grandchildren. Will they be free to practice their sincerely held beliefs? Will they be free to obey God over the teachings of men? Will they be free to follow the dictates of Scripture and God’s leading? The Supreme Court will determine those rights.

Therefore, I will pray for a justice and a court which will defend these freedoms.

Would you join me in praying in this way? Would you pray fervently for God’s mercy and blessings on this process and our country?

  1. As a Christian and a liberal, I am deeply concerned about what this nomination means for the rights of minorities, women, and our LGBT brothers and sisters. Not to mention environmental regulations, healthcare, and rights for workers. I apologize but I will be praying for a different outcome.

    1. Pastor Bailey is asking for prayer on the individual justice and that he will seek God as he interprets the law and the Constitution. Pastor is also praying that the justice will be free to follow the dictates of Scripture and God’s leading. If you are a Christian, then I am sure you will be praying likiewise.

  2. My daily Bible reading today was Ephesians 4,
29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
I believe all of us as Christian’s could benefit from these verses this week. On this day of miracales (13 saved in cave, 1 infant survives abandonment in woods…) God is showing us he is near, I pray let us hear.

  3. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. I pray the fruit of the Spirit will be shared with all involved in this process.

  4. I have and will continue to pray for the person chosen to be a man of God, of High character, strong in right beliefs and a respecter of our constitution.
