I Want to be Like Chick-fil-A

Martha and I have had some vacation and travel time which we have enjoyed immensely. As we traveled we have eaten a couple of times at a Chick-fil-A.

Every time we pull into this fast food restaurant, we predictably talk about the same thing. It goes something like this, “Look at the number of cars!” and “Wow! They really have a business.”

Yesterday, we ate at an out of town Chick-fil-A and the conversation went again to why they have such a great business. We also discussed that possibly so many people go to Chick-fil-A because the corporation is often oppressed.

What is it that makes this business so great?

First, they do everything excellently. The food and the service are outstanding. I smile every time I hear, “My pleasure.” The stores are bright and clean. It’s just excellent.

Second, the food is really good. Have you tried a peach milkshake? None of us goes where the food is not good. Their food is good, and the number of cars in the parking lot shows it.

Third, they are unashamedly Christian. Their faith comes before anything else they do. This doesn’t mean that they are in the face of unbelievers; it just means they seek to live their faith.

I believe this is one of the reasons why their business is so good. They are real and genuine. It’s really hard to argue with a genuine faith that show up in how you treat other people.

Fourth, they don’t compromise who they are. They are Christians, and they don’t open on Sunday. They support the things that are obvious in Scripture. Martha and I discussed yesterday that people–even many, many unbelievers–go to Chick-fil-A because of their unyielding commitment to Jesus Christ. I believe people admire and appreciate strong faith that shows itself in love.

Isn’t this what the world wants from all believers? Aren’t they looking for genuine faith that can be counted on? Don’t they really want to be loved and appreciated?

I want to be like Chick-fil-A.

  1. Wouldn’t it be something if everyone who is a Christian refused to do any business on Sunday. Wonder if that would get the stores that open on Sunday’s attention.

  2. There is a chick-fil-a near I 45 and 242 (The Woodlands). The parking lot is huge and full. I guess with Lone Star College and the medical facilities they just pack them in (6 days a week). Praise God!
