Could I Make A Very Special Request?

Could I make a very special request of you? It’s not for me personally, but it’s for people apart from God.

I want to ask you to pray for people who are “without hope and without God“ (Ephesians 2:12). This is a godly thing to do which squares with Holy Scripture. The apostle Paul said, “Brothers and sisters, my heart’s desire and prayer to God is that the Israelites might be saved“ (Romans 10:1). Paul also said he would be willing to be accursed if his countrymen could be saved (Romans 9:3).

Here’s how I would like for you to do it.

First, find a card or a notepad to write down the names of people for whom God wants you to pray. Place these names in the front of your Bible, in the notes of your phone, or in a prominent place.

Second, go to God in prayer and humbly ask Him to give you people for whom you should pray. This will require being quiet in prayer. I am convinced I too often speak more than I should in prayer. I really should be silent in prayer, asking God to show me what I should do.

Third, pray for these people (I would suggest five people and no more than ten).

Pray that God would convict them for their need of salvation in Christ, that he would illuminate their minds, and that He would bring them to salvation.

There are certainly several other ways you probably should pray, but this is a good beginning.

Finally, call the names that God gives you in daily prayer.

The result of your following this request will transform your life and result in the salvation of many people.

I have a list of names on my bathroom mirror and I Kay hands on those names every morning. I enjoy your daily message. I live in Tennessee. My son and his family attend your church.
