How to Bless Your Church

I usually use this space to bring you up to date on items you need to know about the church. Today I want to ask you to think about how you can be a blessing to the church and a minister in the kingdom of God.

How can I be a blessing to the church?

First, seek personal holiness. I define holiness in this way: “Holiness is doing everything God wants and nothing He doesn’t.” God is conforming us into the image of His Son. He wants us to become as He is. That demands submission of ourselves to Him. It means that we must look to Scripture for how God wants us to act. When we seek holiness, we will be personally blessed and the people around us will be blessed as well. Our holiness and integrity will bring favor to the church.

Second, pray fervently. While it’s important to do all we can to glorify God, we really need what God can do. Would you pray for God’s blessings and power for the church? Would you pray that God would keep us from the evil one? Would you pray for many people to be saved?

Third, use your resources beyond yourself. Almost all of us have been given amazing prosperity. Who would have thought 15 years ago that we would all have a phone with more computing power than sent a human to the moon? Let us use our resources in Godly ways, ways that please Him.

Fourth, love one another.  James called loving one another “the Royal Law.” God wants us to love others as He loves them. This is truly a life-changing attitude.

Love means that we seek the eternal best for other people. It means that we see them through the eyes of Christ.

If you will do these four things, you will bless the church.
