A Word for Today

I have a friend whom I see often who started asking me months ago, “Do you have a word for today?” What he means is, “Have you read and meditated on Scripture that has blessed you this week?” He’s not asking for my opinion, he’s asking about God’s Word. For that reason, I want to give you a word that has been helpful for me.

Today’s word comes from the Apostle Paul. It really speaks to our lives because it has to do with the pain and struggle of life. We all have struggles. Does good come from it?

Paul saw that his struggle made him depend on God. By depending on God, Paul substituted the little he could accomplish with the great and wonderful things God could accomplish.

Here is my word for today.

“Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong” (2 Corinthians 12:9-10).

  1. Thank you for this great WORD on this day!

I needed to be reminded that it is through Christ’s power, not my own, that my hurts, habits and hang ups can be transformed and be used for God’s glory and for my own and others’ good,
