Unprecedented

What a different day this is in America and over most of the world. The Coronavirus has changed the way we look at life and the routines of our lives. That certainly is the case with worship and the assembling of the people of God. Many of you are unable to attend worship because of the virus. During this time we must all find ways to be connected and to serve and worship God in spite of what is going on around us.

I intend to use my blog to connect with people and to encourage you during this time.

I normally don’t write a Sunday blog, but I will attempt to do so as this crisis time continues.

Let me give you some ways to stay connected.

Take advantage of live streaming to view and participate in worship. If you don’t have your own local congregation, join me at www.fbccov.org at 9:30 or 11:00 AM Sunday or 6:00 PM Saturdays to view the entire worship.

But do more than view. Sing along. Bow and pray during the prayer time. Work out how you are going to give your offering and do so. Open your Bible and read the Scripture as your pastor does. At the response time, think about what you should do to more closely follow and serve God.

All of this will give you a sense of connection with God and with the Body of Christ.

If we seek God with all our heart, He will use this time to bring us closer to Him.

Let me give you two of my favorite verses. Notice how they apply to this time.

“Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, I will listen to you. And you will seek me and find me, when you search for me with all your heart. And I will be found by you, declares the Lord, and I will restore your fortunes and will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you, declares the Lord, and I will bring you back to the place from where I sent you into exile” (Jeremiah 29:12-14).

As I spend purposeful time with God, I experience this promise over and over: “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you” (James 4:8).

Have a great Lord’s Day!

  1. Thank you Waylon so much for doing this. I (among many others) really appreciate it. We would love to be going to the service but just can’t. God bless you. Lisa

  2. The sermon you gave yesterday was one of the best I’ve ever heard. We are truly blessed to have a pastor who loves the Lord so much and expresses it so eloquently. Thank you for your service to our church, community, and nation.

  3. Thank you so much for this encouragement found in scripture. There are so many, and we long for encouragement that comes from our good heavenly father. We are praying and worshipping alongside you from home today. Grateful for FBC livestream and for the prayerful efforts of our church staff. May God bless and protect the church, our community, and nation.

  4. Everyday I look up my mail for your blog. What a surprise today ti find this one. Than you. God is greater in us than all the world. He is faithful even when we fail but forgiving. May all this confusing time bring many to turning to God our only source of help. Blessings to you and your sweet family.
