It’s one of those strange times in history.

Everything has changed, and nothing has changed.

Everything has changed because of the Covid-19 virus and the stay at home orders. For that reason, we missed at least a quarter of school, churches have not met, jobs have been lost, and businesses shuttered.

Now we find ourselves trying to find a new way of looking at things and accepting change that we never wanted to consider.

But, in another sense, nothing has changed. Let’s remember what is important and what hasn’t changed.

First, family still matters. Of all the things in life, family and relationships are most important. When we have the people we love, we can handle almost anything and everything. When we have to suffer and face life alone, we find that it is very hard to do.

Second, the little things are really the big things. In reality, we will probably look back on this time and not remember the pain. That will be a good thing unless we lost the little things–those things that really matter.

When God told the people of Israel living in exile in Babylon to make the best of their situation, He told them about relationships, family, and the little things.

What are these little things? He told them to build houses for their families, plant gardens, and get married and have children.

Any society that can do those things will know that nothing has changed.

Third, God and His infinite love has not changed. Nor will He change. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He is unchanging and always caring. Let us focus on Him and seek Him with all our hearts.

Fourth, the plan of God and the need of the world has not changed. God sent His Son into a world of rebellion and disobedience to make us new and to forgive our sins.

God still desires that no one should perish and that everyone might come to the truth. He still wants you and me to make Him known. He wants our “Ones” to come to Him in faith and be saved.

Everything has changed, but nothing has really changed. Let us be faithful in doing what we can do in difficult times.
