What’s Not to Love About That?

We have many things we need and many things we want in life, but there is one thing more important than anything else.

We need to know Christ and the power of His resurrection (Philippians 3:14).

You could describe this need in a number of ways. You could call it “knowing Christ,”  or “the exchanged life,” but the phrase I like best is “intimacy with Christ.”

I believe this is what I need more than anything else in life.

What is it that intimacy with Christ does for us?

Over the years my times of intimacy with Christ, seeking Him with all my heart and worshiping and praising Him in the secret place has blessed me immensely.

What are those blessings?

First, spending time with God in this way gives me confidence and prepares me for the day. When I have spent time with Christ, I feel I am prepared for whatever may come. Whether difficulty, persecution, or the simple things of life that occur to everyone, I know that I am ready for whatever they bring.

Second, when I have spent secret time with God, I am much more bold in my witness.

It’s easy to see why this is the case. When I have spent wonderful times with God, my heart is overflowing with joy, blessings, and His very Presence. Therefore, this time with God makes it easy to speak of the wonderful things God has done in my life. They are fresh and new and therefore I can be more bold about my faith.

Third, my secret times with God remind me over and over that I am not alone. I know He is with me. In those quiet times, He assures me by His presence that He will never leave me nor forsake me.

Finally, my time alone with God gives me energy, hope, a forward look, and strength for the day. As one of my church members asked recently, “What’s not to love about that?”

I pray that you might more and more know Christ and the power of His resurrection. I pray that you might meet Him and experience the wonderful blessings that the quiet, simple, life with Christ brings.

Each day I write about our life with God. If you would like to receive all of these daily looks at life and Scripture, you can sign up at Waylonbailey.com or in the box below.
